UPDATE 1-US SEC adopts new rules on credit rating agencies

(Reuters) - WASHINGTON, May 23 - The U.S. Securities and
Exchange Commission adopted new rules on Wednesday giving it
greater authority over credit rating agencies and aiming to
foster competition in an industry dominated by three
companies.




The investor protection agency's commissioners voted 5-0 at
an open meeting to approve the regulations implementing
legislation approved by Congress last year.
