UPDATE 1-EU says Intel made 3 kinds of antitrust violations

(Reuters) - BRUSSELS, July 27 - The European Union's top
antitrust regulator has charged that Intel tried to use
its huge market share to push smaller rival Advanced Micro
Devices out of the central processing unit business.




The two companies make all the CPU chips at the heart of the
world's 1 billion personal computers and servers, but Intel has
about 80 percent of the business.

Bear Stearns, CSX, NovaStar, St. Jude, Tam, Yahoo: U.S. Equity Movers

(Bloomberg) -- The following is a list of companies
whose shares are having unusual price changes in U.S. exchanges
today. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names.
Share prices are as of 10:15 a.m. New York time.

Brazilian airline American depositary receipts fell after a
passenger plane owned by Tam SA crashed on landing at Sao Paulo's
domestic airport, killing as many as 200 people in the country's
worst air disaster. Tam's ADRs (TAM US), each worth one share,
fell $2.37, or 6.6 percent, to $33.46. Gol Linhas Aereas
Inteligentes SA's ADRs (GOL US), each worth one share, fell
$1.26, or 4.1 percent, to $29.15.

Intel quarterly profit rises, but margins miss

(Reuters) - SAN FRANCISCO, July 17 - Intel Corp. , the largest maker of computer processors, posted a rise in second-quarter earnings on Tuesday, but its missed its gross margin goal and its shares fell nearly 5 percent. The company also said it expected revenue for its current quarter to be $9 billion to $9.6 billion, compared with analysts' forecasts of between $9.1 billion and $9.9 billion on Reuters Estimates.



For its second quarter, Intel posted net earnings of $1.3 billion, or 22 cents per share, compared with $885 million, or 15 cents per share, a year earlier.

U.S. Stock-Index Futures Fall; Merrill, Wells Fargo, Intel Drop in Europe

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. stock-index futures retreated
before quarterly reports from Merrill Lynch & Co., Wells Fargo &
Co. and U.S. Bancorp that may shed light on losses from mortgages
to borrowers with poor or limited credit.

Shares of Merrill Lynch and Wells Fargo declined in Europe,
as did those of Intel Corp., the world's largest computer-chip
maker, one of three Dow Jones Industrial Average companies due to
report earnings today. The other two, Johnson & Johnson, the
biggest U.S. health-products company, and Coca-Cola Co., the
world's largest soft drink maker, gained.

Pessimism on U.S. Stocks Rises the Most Since 2004, Newsletter Survey Says

(Bloomberg) -- Pessimism on U.S. stocks among
newsletter writers jumped by the most since August 2004 last
week, according to a survey by Investors Intelligence.

The number of bearish writers increased to 21.3 percent from
18 percent the prior week, according to New Rochelle, New York-
based Investors Intelligence. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index
rose 1.8 percent during the five-day period ended July 6, putting
the equity benchmark 0.6 percent away from its June 4 record.

Japan's Commodity Stocks May Fall; Kawasaki Heavy, Advantest May Advance

(Bloomberg) -- Japanese commodity-related shares may
decline after the price of crude oil fell in New York and Alcoa
Inc., the world's second-biggest aluminum producer, reported a
drop in its second-quarter profit.

Limiting declines, chip-related shares such as Advantest
Corp. may gain after brokerages in the U.S. said Intel Corp. may
report second-quarter sales at the high-end of the company's own
forecast.

Aasgard's Mikkelson Beats Europe Hedge Funds With Danish Mortgage Bonds

(Bloomberg) -- Kim Mikkelsen outperformed his
European hedge-fund peers by investing in bonds backed by summer
homes in Hornbaek and waterfront apartments in Copenhagen.

Mikkelsen, 38, put about half of his Aaasgard Fixed-Income
Fund's $150 million of assets into Denmark's mortgage-bond
market, the world's largest per capita. The fund returned 31
percent for the year ended June 29, according to data compiled by
Bloomberg, and is No. 1 in HedgeFund Intelligence's ranking of
fixed-income hedge funds in Europe.

US STOCKS-Futures slip as core inflation perks up

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 28 - U.S. stock index futures
dipped on Thursday after government data showed first-quarter
core personal consumption spending, an inflation gauge favored
by the Federal Reserve, was revised higher.

Moody's, Fitch may cut Intelsat rating on stake sale

(Reuters) - The company now holds a "B2" corporate family rating from
Moody's, which is five steps below investment grade.




Fitch Ratings awards Intelsat a "B" issuer default rating,
which is also five steps into junk territory.

Pessimism on U.S. Stocks Declines to Lowest Since July 2004, Survey Says

(Bloomberg) -- Pessimism on U.S. stocks slipped to
the lowest since July 2004 last week, according to a survey by
Investors Intelligence, as the Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose
to within 7 points of a record.

The percentage of bearish writers declined to 18.9 percent
from 21.1 percent a week earlier, the New Rochelle, New York-
based newsletter reported. At the same time, the S&P 500
approached its June 4 all-time high of 1539.18.

US STOCKS-Wall St rallies for 3rd session after tame CPI

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 15 - U.S. stocks rose for a third
straight day on Friday after tame consumer price data put
aside inflation fears, while an upgrade of bellwether Intel
helped fuel gains in the tech sector.




The Nasdaq climbed to its highest in more than six years,
while the Dow finished the week within about 53 points of its
all-time high, as favorable economic and corporate news
overshadowed worries about interest rates that dominated the
market earlier in the week.

AMD shares rise after Lehman stock target hike

(Reuters) - Until Intel introduced its Core 2 microprocessor family about a year ago, AMD had been gaining market share against Intel with its Athlon and Opteron chips.




But Intel has fought back with the Core 2 and regained ground lost over the last two years to AMD. In the first quarter of this year, AMD lost more than 5 percentage points of market share, slipping below 20 percent.

Optimism About U.S. Stocks Falls for First Time in Five Weeks, Survey Says

(Bloomberg) -- Investor optimism about U.S. stocks
fell for the first time in more than a month after the Standard
and Poor's 500 Index ended its longest stretch of weekly gains
since 2004, according to Investors Intelligence.

The percentage of ``bullish'' newsletter writers dropped to
53.8 percent last week from 54.3 percent the previous week, the
New Rochelle, New York-based newsletter said. That marks the
first decline since the week ended April 20.

Indonesia to Change Price Formula for Crude Oil Exports Starting in July

(Bloomberg) -- Indonesia, Southeast Asia's biggest
oil producer, will change the formula it uses to price the
country's crude exports starting July to help boost revenue.

The energy ministry will drop the Asian Petroleum Price
Index, which has a 5 percent weight in the formula, and increase
the weights of assessments made by oil-pricing services Platts
and RIM Intelligence Co. to 50 percent each, Luluk Sumiarso,
director general of oil and gas, said by telephone today.
