Asian Stocks Gain on Earnings; Konica, Chi Mei, Samsung Electronics Climb

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks advanced, paring a
weekly decline, after Konica Minolta Holdings Inc. and Chi Mei
Optoelectronics Corp. reported better-than-estimated profits.

Nintendo Co. led exporters higher after earnings reports in
the U.S. eased concern subprime loan losses will curb growth.
Sumitomo Realty & Development Co. paced gains among Japanese
property shares after saying profit increased by more than half.

Asian Stocks Decline, Led by BHP, Miners on Metals Prices; Nomura Surges

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks fell after Nippon
Electric Glass Co. and Advantest Corp. reported lower earnings
and metals prices slumped.

BHP Billiton Ltd. slid after copper and zinc prices fell,
while Nippon Electric Glass Co. plunged the most in two decades.
Nomura Holdings Inc. jumped the most in five years and Hyundai
Motor Co. rose for a ninth day after reporting net income that
beat analyst estimates.

Asian Stocks Rise to Record on Earnings Outlook; Samsung Heavy, BHP Gain

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose, driving a
regional benchmark to a record, on speculation companies will
report increased earnings.

KDDI Corp., Japan's second-biggest mobile-phone carrier,
jumped the most in eight weeks after it said earnings improved,
while Samsung Heavy Industries Co. advanced after the
shipbuilder reported its highest quarterly net income. BHP
Billiton, the world's largest mining company, climbed after it
reported record annual production for eight of its main
commodities, setting it up for its largest yearly profit.

European Bond Yields at Seven-Week Low as Subprime Concern Hurts Stocks

(Bloomberg) -- European 10-year bond yields were at
the lowest in seven weeks as stocks declined in Europe, Asia and
the U.S., underpinning demand for the safest assets.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year bund fell to the lowest
since May on concern defaults on U.S. subprime mortgages will
spread to the wider economy. European and Asian stocks dropped
today after declines in the U.S. on Friday as Federal Reserve
Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said inflation will recede and housing
market weakness may slow economic expansion.

Asian Stocks Rise for Second Week; BHP Advances After Rio Offer for Alcan

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose for a second week,
driving a regional benchmark to a record. BHP Billiton Ltd.
paced gains as Rio Tinto Group's $38 billion bid for Alcan Inc.
sparked speculation of more takeovers.

BHP, the world's biggest mining company, climbed yesterday
and Posco, the fourth-largest steelmaker, surged the most in
four years after Rio's offer, which came after Chaparral Steel
Co. agreed to be bought for $4.22 billion.

Asian Shares Rise, Led by BHP Billiton, Posco, on Takeovers, Metals Prices

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks climbed, driving
benchmarks in South Korea and Hong Kong to records, on takeover
speculation in the metals industry and higher commodity prices.

Rio Tinto Group climbed to a new high after a newspaper
report said it would bid for Alcan Inc. The world's No. 3 mining
company announced an offer after the close of trading in Australia.
South Korea's Posco led the region's steel producers higher after
Chaparral Steel Co. agreed to be bought for $4.22 billion.

European Government Bonds Decline on Interest-Rate Outlook, Stocks Rally

(Bloomberg) -- European bonds dropped for the first
day this week on speculation their rally wasn't justified by the
outlook for higher interest rates and as stock markets rebounded.

Benchmark 10-year bund yields rose from the lowest in a week
after U.S. equities rose and Asian stocks markets rallied today
as concern waned that U.S. subprime-mortgage delinquencies would
spread to the wider economy. European Central Bank President
Jean-Claude Trichet yesterday said the region's inflation outlook
``remains subject to upside risks.''

European stocks fall as US subprime worry grows

(Reuters) - European shares opened lower on Wednesday as growing concern over the U.S. subprime mortgage market caused U.S. and Asian stocks to tumble and as the oil price hovered near an 11-months high.

Among major movers, BSkyB rose 2.3 percent after saying it had added 90,000 net new customers in the three months to the end of June, up 17 percent year-on-year.

Asian Stocks Rise Most in Five Weeks; Cnooc, BHP Advance on Oil, Metals

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks gained the most in five
weeks, led by Cnooc Ltd. and BHP Billiton Ltd., after prices of
crude oil and metals rose.

``Global growth is continuing to be very strong,'' said
Sean Fenton, who helps manage $832 million at Jenkins Investment
Management in Sydney. ``We expect it to be supportive of
resources shares for some years to come.''

Asian Stocks Advance to a Record; Samsung Electronics, BHP Billiton Gain

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose for a sixth day,
lifting a regional benchmark to a record, on signs of increasing
demand for computer chips and metals.

Samsung Electronics Co. jumped after a brokerage report
raised speculation that prices for dynamic random access memory,
or DRAM, will climb, boosting profit. BHP Billiton Ltd. and Rio
Tinto Group advanced on higher metals prices.

Asian Stocks Rise on Manufacturing Outlook, Metals; Honda, Samsung Gain

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose, lifting a regional
benchmark to a record, after reports showed the pace of
manufacturing in the U.S. and Europe is accelerating, and prices
of metals and crude oil climbed.

Honda Motor Co. and Samsung Electronics Co. led gains on
speculation demand for their exports will be sustained. BHP
Billiton Ltd., the world's biggest mining company and Australia's
largest oil explorer, advanced to an all-time high.

Asian Stocks Climb, Paced by Woodside, Mitsui; Mitsubishi Estate Drops

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose for a third day, led
by energy-related shares, after declining U.S. fuel stockpiles and
attempted car bombings in the U.K. lifted the price of crude oil
to a 10-month high.

Woodside Petroleum Ltd., Australia's second-largest oil
producer, advanced to its highest in a week. Mitsui & Co., a
Japanese trading company that generated almost 15 percent of last
year's revenue from energy, jumped by the most in two months.

European shares hit by growth fears, US mortgages

(Reuters) - European shares fell early on Wednesday, tracking U.S. and Asian stocks lower on worries about economic growth, the fallout from troubles in the U.S. mortgage market and the effects of a rising yen.

At 0813 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares was down 0.5 percent at 1,578.48 points, adding to four successive days of losses, and hitting its lowest in two weeks.

Asian Stocks Decline From a Record High, Led by Nissan; Woodside Advances

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks fell after a report
showed confidence in the U.S. homebuilding industry dropped to
a 16-year low and crude-oil prices jumped to the highest in
nine months.

Nissan Motor Co. and James Hardie Industries NV. led a
decline among companies that rely on U.S. sales on concern
growth in the world's largest economy will slow. Korea Electric
Power Corp. fell on speculation higher fuel costs will erode
profits, while Woodside Petroleum Ltd. gained.

Asian Stocks Gain for Second Day, Led by BHP Billiton on Metals, Oil Rise

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks rose for a second day,
led by BHP Billiton Ltd. and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., after
prices of copper, nickel and crude oil climbed.

``Globally, economic growth looks strong enough to sustain
high levels of demand for commodities so you can expect strength
to continue in related stocks for as long as that view holds,''
said Hans Kunnen, who helps manage $107 billion at Colonial First
State Global Asset Management in Sydney.

Asian Stocks Fall to Two-Week Low on Rising Bond Yields; Toyota Declines

(Bloomberg) -- Asian stocks fell to a two-week low on
concern rising global interest rates will sap demand in the
world's largest economies.

Toyota Motor Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. led declines
among exporters after yields on U.S. Treasuries climbed to the
highest in five years. BHP Billiton Ltd. and Sumitomo Metal Mining
Co. led mining shares lower after metals prices dropped.
