PRESS DIGEST - Wall Street Journal - July 30

(Reuters) - * Dow Jones & Co. Inc.'s controlling shareholders,
the Bancroft family, were still deliberating late Sunday
whether to sell to News Corp. , which has offered $5
billion for the publisher.




* John Malone's Liberty Global Inc. is weighing a
bid for Virgin Media Inc. , for which the Carlyle Group
[CYC.UL] has already offered $8 billion to $10 billion.

Carlyle Capital confirms trimmed IPO

(Reuters) - Trading in the 15.8 million new shares plus a reoffering of 173,200 shares is expected to start on July 4, the affiliate of private equity firm Carlyle Group said in a statement. The company initially planned to issue 18.9 million new shares.




Last week, CCC's chief executive John Stomber told Reuters the company had cut the price and the volume of the offering due to "headwinds" in the market. It also postponed the issue.

UPDATE 2-Home Depot in $10 bln deal to sell unit--sources

(Reuters) - NEW YORK, June 19 - Home Depot Inc. has
agreed to sell its supply division to three private equity
firms, sources said on Tuesday, in a roughly $10 billion deal
that unloads a business the home-improvement retailer's former
chief executive worked to expand.




Bain Capital, Carlyle Group and Clayton, Dubilier
& Rice won the auction and were finalizing the deal early on
Tuesday, sources close to the process told Reuters.

KKR seeks more Taiwan investments after Yageo deal

(Reuters) - Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. [KKR.UL] announced its first
deal in Taiwan late on Tuesday, saying it would buy US$230
million of Yageo Corp.'s convertible bonds that could
give it a 16.1 percent stake in the electronics parts maker.




"We hope to make more investments in Taiwan and China, that's
for sure," Julian Juul Wolhardt, principal of KKR Asia Ltd., told
Reuters. KKR joins other major private equity firms, including
Newbridge [NB.UL], Carlyle [CYL.UL] and MBK Partners in the
Taiwan market.
