Sudan, China to build $630 mln Mauritania railway

(Reuters) - Sudan's Danfodio Holding and China's Transtech Engineering have signed an agreement to build a 460 million euro railway linking Mauritania's capital Nouakchott with southern phosphate deposits at Bofal.

The deal for the 430 km (290 mile) line, which will run close to the Islamic Republic's southern frontier with Senegal, was signed late on Friday in Nouakchott with private Mauritanian investors and Transport Minister Ahmed Ould Mohameden.

Sudan exporting 425,000 bpd of crude - official

(Reuters) - Sudan is exporting around 425,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude and 30,000 tonnes a month of petroleum products, a senior oil ministry official said on Saturday.

The official also said deepened U.S. sanctions earlier this year had not hurt Sudanese exports, except in administrative banking procedures.

Petronas, Sudan Have Sought Engineering Bids to Build Oil Refinery

(Bloomberg) -- Petroliam Nasional Bhd., Malaysia's
state-owned oil company, and its counterpart in Sudan are
awaiting engineering bids to build a refinery in Port Sudan, the
Malaysian company said.

The plant, a joint venture with Sudan's national oil
company, would process 150,000 barrels a day, Hassan Marican,
chief executive of Petroliam Nasional, or Petronas, said at the
Asia Oil and Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur today. In August
2005, Petronas said the plant would process 100,000 barrels a
day, without giving the cost of the project. Marican wouldn't
comment today on the change in the proposed scale.
