Datacraft Asia's Third-Quarter Profit Rises by 38 Percent on Order Gains

(Bloomberg) -- Datacraft Asia Ltd., which builds
computer networks in the region, posted a 38 percent gain in
third-quarter profit after winning orders in countries
including India and New Zealand.

Net income increased to $7.33 million, or 1.62 cents a
share, for the three months ended June 30, from $5.33 million,
or 1.15 cents, a year earlier, Datacraft said in a statement
today. Sales rose 30 percent to $147.3 million.

CORRECTED: RadioShack posts profit but sales weaken

(Reuters) - "The sales performance continues to be weak," said Tiffany Co, a director in the retail group with Fitch Ratings. She said declining sales would eventually cut into profitability.




Sales fell 15 percent to $934.8 million, short of analysts' estimates of $983.6 million. Sales at stores open at least a year, a key measure of retail performance, dropped 8.9 percent. RadioShack cited weaker wireless sales and the closure of 481 stores in 2006.

UPDATE 1-Mexico's Carso posts 19 pct drop in net profit

(Reuters) - Carso, an industrial and retail holding that belongs to the
business empire of Latin American billionaire Carlos Slim, said
its April-June net profit was 1.782 billion pesos .




Sales fell 3.8 percent to 22.290 billion pesos and core
earnings before taxes, depreciation and amortization
dropped 13.2 percent to 3.462 billion pesos.

UPDATE 2-Dow Chemical second-quarter profit rises

(Reuters) - Dow, the No. 1 U.S. chemical maker by sales, said
second-quarter profit rose to $1.04 billion, or $1.07 a share,
from $1.02 billion, or $1.05 a share, a year earlier.




Sales rose 6 percent to $13.27 billion, the the Midland,
Michigan-based company said.

UPDATE 1-MEMC Electronic quarterly earnings double

(Reuters) - For the second quarter, the company earned $163.6 million,
or 70 cents a share, compared with $81.9 million, or 36 cents a
share, in the year-ago quarter.




Sales rose 28 percent to $472.7 million.

U.S. existing home sales fell in June

(Reuters) - Economists polled by Reuters were expecting home resales to
fall to a 5.88 million-unit pace from the 5.99 million-unit
rate initially reported for May. Sales were revised in May to
5.98 milion units.




The inventory of homes for sale fell 4.2 percent to 4.196
million units at the end of June, which represents an 8.8
months' supply.

UPDATE 1-Rothmans profit rises in first quarter

(Reuters) - Rothmans will pay a dividend of 30 Canadian cents per share
Sept. 17.




Sales at Rothmans Benson & Hedges Inc., which is a 60
percent owned unit, net of excise duty and taxes, rose to
C$177.4 million from C$162.9 million a year earlier.

Harley-Davidson net rises on international sales

(Reuters) - Sales rose 17.7 percent to $1.62 billion.




Analysts, on average, had expected the Milwaukee-based company to earn $1.13 a share on sales of $1.64 billion, according to Reuters Estimates.

ACC Ltd. (ACC IN): India's biggest cement maker by capacity
will probably report a net income of 3.9 billion rupees in the
three months ended June 30, according to a median profit estimate
in a Bloomberg News survey. Sales may have risen to 24 percent to
18.2 billion rupees. ACC rose 22.5 rupees, or 2 percent, to
1133.1.

Bank of Ningbo Profit Rises 41 Percent to $547 Million on Local Lending

(Bloomberg) -- Bank of Ningbo Co. Ltd., a Chinese
bank that raised 4.14 billion yuan ($547 million) in its initial
public offering this month, said its unaudited first-half profit
rose 41 percent on increased loans to local companies.

Net income rose to 382.8 million yuan, or 0.19 yuan a share,
in the six months ended June 30 from last year's 271.6 million
yuan, or 0.15 yuan a share, said the bank based in eastern
China's Zhejiang province. Sales rose 38 percent to 998.5 million
yuan, the bank said in a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

SK Telecom, Bausch & Lomb, Ceva Plan to Sell Debt: Corporate Bond Alert

(Bloomberg) -- SK Telecom Co., South Korea's largest
mobile-phone operator, and eye-care and surgical product maker
Bausch & Lomb Inc. are among borrowers seeking to raise at least
$61.5 billion of bonds in the U.S., according to data compiled by
Bloomberg.

Sales this week total $15.1 billion, compared with $343
million last week. Companies sold $687.3 billion of bonds so far
this year, up from $558.2 billion a year ago.

Neo-China, SK Telecom, Korea Exchange Bank, Mitsubishi: Asia Bond Alert

(Bloomberg) -- SK Telecom Co., South Korea's largest
mobile-phone operator, and Azgard Nine Ltd., a Pakistani maker of
textiles and fertilizer, are among borrowers seeking to sell at
least $7 billion of bonds in Asia, according to data compiled by
Bloomberg.

Governments and companies in Asia sold $43.3 billion of debt
denominated in dollars, euros and yen this year, up from $37.5
billion a year earlier, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
Sales of Samurai debt, bonds sold by foreign entities in Japan,
increased to 1.3 trillion yen ($10.6 billion), from 741 billion
yen in the whole of 2006.

UPDATE 1-Fred's June sales up, co. says rise below estimate

(Reuters) - Sales at stores open at least a year rose 1.5 percent during
the five weeks ended July 7, while sales taking into account
all its outlets increased 4 percent to $166.2 million.




The shift to generics has a neutral-to-positive effect on
the profit because of their increased margins, Chief Executive
Michael Hayes said in a statement.

Sears sees quarterly profit decline, shares down

(Reuters) - Sales at Kmart stores open at least one year fell 3.9 percent in the first nine weeks of the 13-week second quarter, with declines across most categories at the discount chain.




Same-store sales fell 4 percent at U.S. Sears stores, with declines across most categories, although demand for women's apparel and footwear improved.

BMW says mainland China vehicle sales 38 pct

(Reuters) - Sales of BMW brands rose 36 percent to 22,891 units, with Minis up 131 percent at 776 units.




In the Greater China area, including Macau, Taiwan and Hong Kong, BMW moved 28,327 vehicles in the period, up 31 percent, it added.

Chrysler sales outside US up 10 pct in 2nd quarter

(Reuters) - Sales rose 3.3 percent in the quarter to 735,837 vehicles
in the quarter worldwide for Chrysler, which said sales in the
United States rose 1.5 percent to 575,844 units.
