Ford recalls 3.6 mln vehicles over switch

(Reuters) - The Ford vehicles being recalled are F-Series and Ranger pickup trucks, Explorer, Bronco and Mountaineer SUVs, Econoline vans and some Crown Victoria, Town Car, Grand Marquis, Capri, Mark VII and Taurus Sho cars with model years ranging from 1992 to 2004, depending upon the particular vehicle.




Ford recalled nearly 6.2 million vehicles in 2005 and 2006 because of engine fires linked to a faulty speed control deactivation switch.

Ford advances Jaguar, Land Rover sale talks

(Reuters) - "We are now exploring in greater detail the potential sale of the combined Jaguar Land Rover business with selected parties who have expressed interest."




Ford added, however, there is no guarantee it will agree to a sale.

Ford says expects to clinch competitive UAW deal

(Reuters) - "We do expect to get a resolution for our issues," Laymon said.




Ford Chief Executive Alan Mulally and UAW President Ron Gettelfinger shook hands at the automaker's headquarters on Monday afternoon in a ceremony to mark the start of talks.

Analysts mull implications of Ford without Volvo

(Reuters) - "The lack of interest in Jaguar, Land Rover and the low level of cash that would be generated by their sale have prompted Ford to consider a sale ," Paul Newton, an auto analyst at Global Insight, said in a research note.




Newton was referring to reports on Sunday that Ford was considering selling Volvo.

Ford submits sole bid for Romania's Daewoo Craiova

(Reuters) - BUCHAREST, July 5 - Ford Motor Co has submitted the sole bid in a tendering for a majority stake in Romanian car-maker Daewoo Automobile Craiova, state privatisation agency AVAS said on Thursday. "AVAS received ... only one offer, from Ford Motor Co," the agency said in a statement.



Romania wants to sell a 72.4 percent stake in Daewoo Automobile Craiova. Earlier this year, Romania said it had received letters of intent from General Motors Corp. and Russian Machines, as well as Ford.

Asked whether he was interested in buying Ford Motor Co's
's luxury brands that the U.S. carmaker is considering
selling, he said: "I don't believe in buying brands. It's not in
the interest of either Nissan or Renault."

Ford expects rise in U.S. retail sales in May

(Reuters) - "We will be reporting an increase in retail sales this month," Ford chief sales analyst George Pipas told reporters on Tuesday evening, adding that crossover sport utility vehicles and cars were driving the improvement in showroom sales.




But a 20 percent reduction in sales to daily-rental companies would drag Ford's overall U.S. sales in May down for a "single-digit" percentage decline, Pipas said.
